Dear Mrs. McVeigh,
It had been several years since I attended a wedding, until last weekend. I was very surprised to see everyone get out their cell phones and take pictures, as the bride was walking down the aisle. Do you think this is okay?
K.S.S.
Dear K.S.S.,
I do not think that this is good etiquette. A professional (or designated) photographer was probably present, so the bride and groom did not need anyone else taking pictures. A bride walking down the aisle is one of those moments that friends and family need to watch through their own eyes, and not through their phone camera. Especially in a church, this seems very disrespectful. Wedding ceremonies are formal occasions, no matter what the venue, and photography should wait until after the ceremony.
